Noel Dempsey has insisted that all six planned Luas lines for Dublin will be built. However three will not open on time because of the economic downturn.
He said that while all the lines would be delivered, three would not begin operating as scheduled.The 4km extension of the red (Tallaght) line to Citywest is being funded by private investors.
Other lines under construction include a 1.5km link to the docklands from Connolly Station -- due to begin operations next year. A 7.5km extension of the green (Sandyford) line to Cherrywood, Dun Laoghaire is also due to open next year.
