SoftCo announced as main sponsor of St. Mary’s College RFC

Sponsorship announced by Joe Schmidt at opening home AIL Division 1A Ulster Bank League match against Terenure College

SoftCo, the leading Irish software technology company, is delighted to become the main sponsor of St. Mary’s College Rugby Football Club in Templeogue, one of the most successful rugby clubs in Ireland. The sponsorship agreement was announced by the 6-Nations-winning Ireland Head Coach, Joe Schmidt, at the club’s game against Terenure College in Division 1A of the Ulster Bank League last weekend.

Founded in 1900, St. Mary’s RFC are twice Division 1A League Champions and have won the Leinster Senior Cup on eleven occasions. The club has produced numerous international players, four Irish team captains and eleven British and Irish Lions including Tony Ward, Johnny Moloney, Tom Grace and Ciaran Fitzgerald.  Most recently, former St. Mary’s player Jonathan Sexton represented Ireland in the victorious 2013 Lions tour of Australia, while current club men Jack McGrath, Shane Jennings, Kevin McLaughlin, Darragh Fanning and Rhys Ruddock are regulars on the Leinster team.

Jim Coffey, Founder of SoftCo, says: “SoftCo is delighted to sponsor St. Mary’s College RFC.  This partnership is a natural fit between two successful organisations.  In addition to the club’s on-pitch achievements at all levels, the number of international, European and lions players developed by St. Mary’s is quite phenomenal. We’re really looking forward to actively working with the St. Mary’s team and club to support that great success into the future.”

Brian Grimson, President St. Mary’s College RFC, says: “St. Mary’s are delighted to welcome on board SoftCo as their main sponsor for the next two seasons. We are indeed honoured to be associated with such a major player in the global software industry and thank them for their support and belief in the club. We’re indebted to our former player and President, Dr. Dermot O‘Brien for assisting us in securing such a prestigious sponsor. We look forward to an excellent working relationship with SoftCo over the coming seasons.”

St. Mary’s College RFC took on Terenure College in their first home game in Division 1A of the Ulster Bank League on Saturday, 20th of September. It was the first time in seven years that the sides had met in the top division, and the game was attended by Joe Schmidt and over 1,000 supporters.
