Chris Lewis guilty of smuggling cocaine

LONDON (Reuters) - Former England cricketer Chris Lewis was found guilty on Wednesday of trying to smuggle drugs into Britain in his kit bag.

The 41-year-old former all-rounder had attempted to bring in cocaine with a street value of more than 140,000 pounds after a holiday in St Lucia but was stopped by customs officers at Gatwick Airport, Croydon Crown Court heard.

The drugs had been hidden in liquid form in tins of fruit and vegetable juice stashed in his kit bag, the Press Association said.
