Ibec calls on businesses to participate in the 10th annual National Workplace Wellbeing Day

Ibec, the group that represents Irish business, is asking businesses to start preparing activities for the 10th annual National Workplace Wellbeing Day, taking place on Friday, 26 April 2024.

National Workplace Wellbeing Day is the only national day in the EU specifically dedicated by business to spotlight employees' social, mental, and physical wellbeing. Over the last ten years, it has seen continued growth in participation, with up to 1,000 companies now participating annually.

Ibec CEO, Danny McCoy, said:

As we celebrate the 10th anniversary of National Workplace Wellbeing Day, organisations across Ireland will use the opportunity to reassess their approach to fostering wellbeing in the workplace. Previously, the focus of workplace wellbeing initiatives revolved primarily around physical health. However, there has been a notable shift in employee expectations towards prioritising a positive and inclusive culture, underpinned by empathetic leadership."

"This evolution underscores the significance of psychological safety in reshaping workplace dynamics and redefining the criteria for effective leadership. It is crucial for companies to allocate resources towards leadership development initiatives that place emphasis on empathy, active listening, and vulnerability. Recognising the importance of cultivating these cultural cornerstones to foster a supportive environment can yield substantial improvements in performance and overall outcomes.”

To mark National Workplace Wellbeing Day, Ibec will be hosting a special lunch to launch the Top 100 Companies Leading in Wellbeing on Thursday, April 25 2024. On the day, we will be recognising the companies that have excelled across key areas of their KeepWell accreditations during the last year, through our Best in Class awards. The lunch will be hosted by TV presenter and designer, Brendan Courtney, and feature accomplished radio and TV presenter, Síle Seogie, as special guest speaker.

We are encouraging businesses sign up and participate in National Workplace Wellbeing Day to make that public commitment to your employees’ wellbeing. Registration and further information is available at www.wellbeingday.ie.
