Construction of Burton Hall Road extension begins this week

Works on the extension of the cul de sac at Burton Hall Road to the Leopardstown Road have commenced for a period of 6 months...

The Project consists of the construction of the Burton Hall Road Extension from its junction with Blackthorn Avenue to its junction with Leopardstown Road and consists of:

The construction of 0.21km of road including a southbound Quality Bus Corridor, cycle lanes, footpaths landscaping, road markings, public lighting, road drainage and signage.

Installation of a signal controlled junction at the Leopardstown Road junction and the provision of signalised pedestrians crossings.

Construction of a new boundary wall and railing on the eastern side of the road only.

Construction of a 450mm diameter foul sewer.

The proposal consists of:

  • The construction of 0.21km of road including a southbound Quality Bus Corridor, cycle lanes, footpaths landscaping, road markings, public lighting, road drainage and signage.
  • Installation of a signal controlled junction at the Leopardstown Road junction and the provision of signalised pedestrians crossings.
  • Construction of a new boundary wall and railing on the eastern side of the road only.

  Traffic Management

All access to the compound will be from Burton Hall Road.

The access to the compound will be at the southern end of the compound as marked on the attached drawing.

Access to the works area for Phase 1 Traffic Management will be adjacent to the entrance at Brackville Holdings.

Phase 1 of the Traffic Management will be in place for approx. 12 weeks. There will be slight adjustment to this traffic management (during working hours only) when we are installing road crossings.

Phase 2 will commence around the start of July as per the contract programme and will have a duration of approximalty 3 weeks.

Working hours will be 7:30 am to 17:00 pm

This traffic management will be in place for the new road construction on the east side of the road and associated service installation.  The main points of the plan are as follows:
1.       Advance warning signs.
2.       Removal of the on street parking
3.       Burn off the existing lining
4.       Re-line the road for 2 number 3m lanes on the west side of the road.
5.       Installation of Vario Guard between the roadwork's and existing traffic.
6.       Footpath closed on the east side of the road.
7.       Pedestrian diverted to use west side footpath.
