Enterprise Week Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown 2016

Aimed at anyone thinking of starting a business, new start-ups and growing SMEs, over 30 events are being planned across Dún Laoghaire Rathdown’s Local Enterprise Week from 7th-11th March.

For early stage entrepreneurs there are workshops on Monday 7th March including ‘The Lean Startup - Work Smarter not Harder’ and Catherine Moonan, author of The Pitch Coach, will teach that all important business skill ‘ How to craft and deliver a 60-second pitch’. Don’t miss the key note speakers on Tuesday 8th March in Dún Laoghaire Iain Jawad of Frost & Sullivan outlining ‘Future Global Trends’ and Maureen Gaffney discussing ‘Managing Change, Resilience and Being at Your Best’.

The Cathaoirleach, Cllr Barry Saul, said the events organised for Enterprise Week are responding to  business surveys carried out for the Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown’s  Local Economic and Community Plan 2016-2021. The business community asked for more opportunities to engage with stakeholders and to develop the county as a hub for small enterprises.  Dún Laoghaire- Rathdown County Council is committed to creating an ‘enterprise-friendly’ county for companies and individuals setting up or expanding their businesses and ultimately supporting local jobs.

Ms Dearbhla Lawson, Director of Economic, Community and Cultural Development, said Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown has a rich culture of entrepreneurship and a thriving business community. “Our research shows that there is a demand for opportunities to network and to share experiences and skills with fellow entrepreneurs. With over 30 events planned, our Local Enterprise Week includes a wide range of activities and networking opportunities to support entrepreneurs and businesses from all sectors of our local economy, and we look forward to seeing you there.”

Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown has a wealth of talent and the ‘Voice of Experience’ event on Wednesday 9th March in Stillorgan will bring together experts from many different  sectors including  Jim Layden, MD of Bizquip, Conor Bofin, MD of Firstcom, Sharon Scally, Amorys Solicitors and Dan Holland, Partner with Smith & Williamson, to share their experience with start-ups.

The Local Enterprise Office has already supported hundreds of new enterprises including international sensation Traxedo who are exporting their products worldwide, MummyCooks and House My Dog - an ‘Airbnb’ service for dogs. Local Enterprise Week will showcase the wide range of supports available to Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown's small business community, from grants to mentoring and from training to business advice.
