More Information

Are you interested in keeping bees and producing your own honey, but don’t know where to start? Join local beekeeper Brian O’Toole from Wildacres for a one-day workshop, introducing the fascinating world of bees and beekeeping.

Learn all about the lifecycle of the honeybee, getting started and managing a hive of bees through the different seasons, extracting your own honey and the different types of honey you can produce.

The workshop will also introduce our fascinating wild bees and other wild pollinators and the plants that they rely on for nectar and pollen. As part of the workshop, you will get the opportunity to don a bee suit and see inside one of our beehives at the Airfield Apiary.

This workshop will take place at Airfield Estate. We ask that for the visit to the apiary (beehives) those attending bring wellington boots or high boots which the bottom of the beesuits can be tucked into and fully covered.

Tea and coffee will be available, but we ask attendees bring their own lunch which can be eaten in the room provided. We encourage you to bring your own reusable mug if you have one.

Dates: Saturday 20th April | Saturday 24th August

Time: 10am-4.30pm

Price: €115 / €103.50 for annual pass holders
