LONDON (Reuters) - Home insurance group Homeserve <HSV.L> on Tuesday reported a 13 percent rise in full-year profit and said it would exit its UK Emergency Services unit to focus on its core membership business.
The company, which provides cover for a range of emergencies such as broken boilers and over-flowing washing machines, posted a pretax profit of 96.1 million pounds on revenues 7 percent lower at 517.4 million pounds.
Analysts, on average, expected the company to report a pretax profit of 96 million pounds for 2009, up from 84 million pounds a year earlier.
It sold 1.83 million new UK policies, bringing total policies to 9.2 million -- up from 8.1 million this time last year.
